All handmade in a workshop in the Dorset countryside.
Traditional timber windows, doors, gates and bespoke joinery for period and listed buildings across Dorset.
What comes out of the workshop
Windows
Casements and sashes for stone cottages, including restoration work on stained glass.
Doors
Oak stable doors, arched doors and ledged-and-braced doors, hung to openings that are rarely square.
Gates
Side gates, driveway gates and garden gates, made to fit between the piers you already have.
Staircases
Winders, straight flights and turned oak spindles, built to Part K and fitted by Ollie.
Fitted Joinery
Boot rooms, cupboards and shelving built into the awkward corners of old houses.
Most projects come through word of mouth
Ollie set up on his own at twenty and has worked for himself ever since. He takes on fewer jobs than a bigger company, so every one gets his full attention from the first visit to the last fixing.
One pair of hands
Ollie measures the job, makes it in his workshop and fits it himself.
Built for old buildings
Period and listed properties, where nothing is square and a standard unit will not do.
He will tell you if it can be repaired
Sometimes an old window wants mending rather than replacing. That is a cheaper job and he will say so.
Honest work, done right
Thank you so much. The table top is just beautiful. A reflection of your amazing talent. I’m so pleased.

Questions
Where in Dorset does Hurlstone Joinery work?
Ollie is based in the Dorset countryside and works across the county and the areas that border it. If you’re unsure whether you’re within reach, it’s worth a quick call on 07854 851933, as he’s usually happy to travel a sensible distance for the right job.
Is it really just one person doing the work?
Yes. Ollie Hurlstone makes everything himself, by hand, in his own workshop. The person who quotes your job is the same person who builds it and fits it, so nothing gets lost between a salesperson and a subcontractor.
How do prices and quotes work?
Every job is priced on enquiry, because no two are the same. The size of the opening, the timber, the design and the state of the existing building all change the cost, so Ollie comes to see the work in person and gives you a proper price up front. You’ll know what you’re paying before anything starts, with no surprises later.
