Fitted Joinery in Dorset

Hurlstone Joinery makes fitted joinery in Dorset, handmade by Ollie Hurlstone from his own workshop in the countryside. Everything is made by hand from scratch, built to fit your space and your needs. If you want bespoke cupboards, fitted wardrobes or storage that actually works for your home, that’s what Ollie does.

He makes all sorts of fitted furniture. Bespoke cupboards, fitted wardrobes, shelving, alcove units and proper storage that uses the space you’ve got. Boot rooms, alcove cupboards, fitted storage in awkward corners. If you can picture it, Ollie can usually make it.

Every piece is made to measure. He takes the time to get the measurements right, chooses good materials, and builds it the traditional way so it lasts. No flat-pack, no shortcuts. Just solid joinery that fits properly and looks the part.

Ollie works on homes across Dorset and the surrounding areas. Whether it’s one cupboard or a whole room kitted out with fitted furniture, he’ll build it to suit how you actually live.

Questions

Why choose fitted joinery over flat-pack?

Flat-pack is built to standard sizes and rarely fits an older home well, leaving gaps and filler panels. Fitted joinery is made to measure for your actual room, so it fits properly, makes the most of the space and is built to last rather than to be replaced.

Can you use an awkward alcove or sloping space?

Yes, awkward spaces are where bespoke fitted joinery comes into its own. Ollie makes fitted wardrobes, shelving and cupboards to suit alcoves, chimney breasts and sloping ceilings, turning the spaces flat-pack cannot handle into proper storage.

Painted or natural finish?

Both work, and it comes down to the look you want and the timber. A painted finish suits a classic, country feel and lets the joinery blend with your decor, while a natural timber finish shows off the grain. Ollie will help you decide what will look right.
